Elders elk hunt 2016 - Jake Smith and Dean Drake
The band elk allocation has come in: 24 tags will be distributed through a draw that will be held Friday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. 7 tags will go to the elders. Applications must be made in person at the band office no later than 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and be accompanied by a $30 non-refundable fee and presentation of the Band member’s status card. Applicants must be 16 years or older. Application funds go toward the cost of processing elk meat for Elders.
Information Meeting – The Band Council has set Saturday, Oct. 7 for a community information meeting. Proposed topics for discussion include community safety, housing, and the Land Code. By-election Reminder – If you are a member who lives off reserve and have not yet received a mail-in package for the upcoming Sept. 7 council by-election, please inform Membership Administrator Christine Smith and ensure she has your up-to-date contact information (christinesmith@weiwaikum.ca or 250-286-6949). Mail-in ballots are available to any members and may be obtained by contacting Electoral Officer Roy Brooks at band.election@outlook.com or by calling 250-650-6544. The by-election will elect one councillor for the reminder of a four-year term expiring February 2021. The candidates are Christopher Drake and Dean Drake.
