Congratulations to Wei Wai Kum member Emoni Bush for earning a spot on the U16/17 Team BC Women’s Volleyball Team.
Emoni, who recently celebrated her 15th birthday, attended Team BC’s Baden Cup in Kamloops July 4 to 8. This high-performance development camp brought the top athletes and coaches from around the province together for training at Thompson Rivers University. It also served as an evaluation camp where the top players were selected for an additional 10 days of training after earning their spot on the Team BC roster.
At the conclusion of this camp Emoni will travel with her team to Richmond from July 19-22 where she will represent Team BC and our community in the 2018 Canada Cup at the Olympic Oval.
This is yet another great achievement for Emoni in her young volleyball career in addition to her past achievements of representing B.C. at the North American Indigenous Games last year as well as playing (and being recognized as one of the top players) throughout the last year for her school and club teams. Always an eager learner and coachable athlete, she has not only excelled in her athletic career but has also been able to maintain an A average in school during the last year at Carihi. With this type of attitude and work ethic we have no doubt Emoni will achieve her goals of playing for her country as well as a Division 1 team when she attends university. Congratulations Emoni, we are all very proud of you!
