Band Update: Food Fish, Staffing

Tanis Quocksister at last year's Wei Wai Kum food fish distribution of frozen halibut. This year's distribution will be of fresh sockeye.

The delivery date for the upcoming Wei Wai Kum food fish distribution has not yet been set. The information will be posted on the website and Facebook page as soon as it’s finalized. Sockeye salmon will be distributed on a per-household basis and Elders age 65 or older have the option of having 10 fish frozen for them.

A reminder that Band members who live off-reserve must register in advance and state if they want to designate another individual to collect their household’s allocation or if they will pick it up themselves – and where. There will be off-reserve distribution sites in the Lower Mainland and central Vancouver Island.

Off-reserve Band members may register by having a member of the household contact Membership Administrator Christine Smith at ChristineSmith@weiwaikum.ca or by phoning 1-877-286-6949.

Staffing Update

A warm welcome back to Rikki Brown who has returned from maternity leave to a part-time Administrative Assistant role as of this week. Another warm welcome to Tasia Herbert who will become the new full-time receptionist starting Aug. 13. Tasia is a graduate of Carihi and has been a resident of the Wei Wai Kum community for several years.

Office Closure

The Band office will be closed at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 due to the funeral that afternoon for Nadine Henderson.
