Community Information Session Aims to Engage About Engagement

This weekend’s community meeting will include facilitated discussions about how members of Wei Wai Kum First Nation would like to engage with Council and with each other. Participants will be asked for their thoughts on meeting formats and communication channels, as well as topics they’d like addressed – both in the short and long-term.

Councillors will first provide an update on Band activities, including updates and responses to topics raised at November’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). A question and answer session will follow. After lunch, the meeting will depart from the usual format in order to break into small groups to talk about ways to communicate more effectively. This could include ways to generate feedback and involve members in planning and providing feedback on proposed projects, to ways that Council can better share information. Online voting? Mini surveys? Advisory groups?  Bring your ideas!

The meeting takes place Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Thunderbird Hall. Lunch is included for those who can attend in person.

Those who cannot come in person may participate online  https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/162145469

Another community meeting will be held in April to introduce the new Chief and to report on other action items arising from the AGM and Saturday’s meeting.
