Congratulations Jalen and Aboriginal Team BC

We would like to congratulate Jalen Henderson-Price on winning the “GOLD MEDAL” at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in Membertou, Nova Scotia on May 6th – 12th. Team BC placed second in their pool losing to Team Saskatchewan in the round robin play. Put them playing Team Manitoba in the semi-finals beating them 4-3 to advance them to the “Gold Medal” game with a re-match against Team Saskatchewan. Being down 5-2 going into the 3rd period they rallied together to get 2 goals to tie 5-5 going into OT. Team BC were wanting revenge and played their hearts out and scored shortly into the OT period winning 6-5. Way to go Team BC we are so very proud of Jalen for working hard and bringing home a “GOLD MEDAL” for your communities of Wei Wai Kum and We Wai Kai First Nations.

Jalen was also named “Top Forward of the Tournament”, which being the Nationals is a great accomplishment and for that, we are pretty proud of you! You have shown us how hardworking, determined and dedicated you are to the sport you chose to play and for that it is definitely paying off. A VIJHL Championship and a Gold Medal at the NAHC all within a few weeks is a huge accomplishment be proud kid. Jalen would like to thank everyone whom made it possible to attend NAHC 2018, CRIB for covering his fee, and to my family specially gran whom without them would not be able to attend and a special thank you to Mayor Andy Adams for your continued personal support without you and my family this would not be possible as travel & food can be very expensive for 10 days! Continue to strive for your dream Jalen and doing what you do best you are a “TRUE” role model to our youth!
