Councillors are elected by the registered membership of the Wei Wai Kum First Nation. They serve four-year terms on a staggered basis, meaning that half of the terms expire every two years. The next regular election will take place in February, 2019.
Elections are governed by the Election Code of the Wei Wai Kum First Nation, which was ratified by the membership.
Note: recent work to revise and expand the Governance Manual has led to several instances where the two differ on specific points. In such cases, the Election Code supersedes the Governance Manual. Revisions will be made to align the Code with the Governance Manual and these changes will be brought before the membership for approval.
