Facilities

The Wei Wai Kum First Nation owns several buildings, including two – the Thunderbird Hall and the Kwanwatsi Big House – that are regularly used by the community.

Administration Office 1650 Old Spit Road. The office includes Council Chambers and a small meeting room. Band members are welcome to attend council meetings and to book the meeting room.  Call 250-286-6949 for bookings and information.

Kwanwatsi Big House 1401 Drake Road. Kwanwatsi Big House means House of Thunder. It was built in 1997 and is used for cultural and social events. The Big House is near Thunderbird Hall and has a maximum capacity of 1,000 people. The Big House has a custom Thunderbird and Sisiutl on the front and four traditional totem poles inside representing the different family groups in the Wei Wai Kum First Nation. Kwanwatsi Child Care Centre 1400 Drake Road.Kwanwatsi Child Care Centre operates two licensed Early Learning programs. The Infant/Toddler program cares for up to 12 children from infancy up to age three while the Preschool program cares for up to 25 children ages three to five. Thunderbird Hall – 1400 Weiwaikum Road.Thunderbird Hall is a popular site for weddings, conferences, fundraisers, feasts, and sporting events. It can accommodate up to 350 people seated at tables or 500 people seated theatre-style. For more information on renting the hall contact the Band Office at 250-286-6949.

Wei Wai Kum Net Loft – 2355 Spit Road. Serves the local fishing sector with affordable services, indoor and outdoor storage, and a sheet wall. For more information, call 250-287-6650.
