Staffing Update

Melissa is our new Community Enrichment Facilitator here at Wei Wai Kum.

Melissa is a Saulteau First Nations woman who was raised on the unceded traditional territory of Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc, also known as Kamloops, British Columbia. Her community, nationhood and traditional territory lies in northern British Columbia within Treaty 8.

Melissa wants to acknowledge and give thanks to Wei Wai Kum peoples for sharing their traditional territory with her and her family, as they have just moved to Campbell River. She looks forward to building long term relations in the community.

Melissa has just completed her Masters Degree in Indigenous Governance at the University of Victoria and is extremely excited to bring her previous work experiences in healthcare and Indigenous disability, as well as her education, focused on decolonization, cultural safety, nationhood, and Indigenous resurgence to help foster new relationships and create accessibility to community health and wellness opportunities. Melissa’s work always looks to maintain respectful processes and build relationships through reciprocity and developing mutual trust.

\Melissa is excited to meet YOU, so stop by, give her a call or send her an email.
